jyoti say : Despite it's inconsistencies and controversies, the Offside rule is very much important to the game of football. The rule shouldn't be eliminated from the game. Offside rule was created to encourage a attack minded game. Without it, the game will become stale. Can you imagine a game without the offside rule? 1 - The strikers will camp at the opponents half, waiting for the ball to be pumped in. Due to this, the defenders cannot move forward, needing to mark the strikers. It will happen at both sides of the pitch. The ball will just be pumped up and over throughout the game. The midfield play will be non existent. The game will become like a tennis match. The game only played at the penalty areas. 2 - Without the offside rule, creative players like Fabregas, Iniesta, Xavi, Lampard, Gerrard, Kaka or even a Maradona will not exist. This type of players will be made redendent. Unusable. It's the offside rule which makes these players thrive in the middle of the park. Despite it's flaws, beating the offside rule is in itself an Art. The rule can never be taken from the game.
